Dr Marissa Basil

General Practitioner

MBBS (Hons 1), BSc (Hons 1) BEd, Dip Paeds FRACGP

Dr Basil is a highly experienced GP and medical educator. Her early years were spent as a high school teacher of mathematics and science after which she pursued a career in medicine.

Over the years she has combined her passion for both fields whilst working as a clinician and being involved in medical education at both USYD, and UNSW, examining for RACGP and assisting in training GP registrars. Her postgraduate medical training has been extensive and she has worked in both hospitals and general practices in Sydney, Lismore, Port Macquarie and London in both paediatric and adult medicine.

She is a highly dedicated doctor with a wide range of clinical interests including but not limited to women’s health (fertility, antenatal care, perimenopause), men’s health issues, paediatric care, and acute and chronic medical conditions.

Marissa believes in the patient-centred model of care and is committed to developing strong and long-term therapeutic relationships with her patients. She always endeavours to see her patients at short notice especially when they are acutely unwell! Medicine has fascinated her since childhood and this fascination continues to grow with her years of experience.

Outside of work, Marissa’s passion is caring for her young family. Out of the practice, you will find her at the beach, on the tennis court or cooking for her family and friends.
